Status notes
Signed 29 Sep 2026 and published in the Federal Register on 2 Oct 2026 (Vol. 91, No. 190, pp. 63129-63130). Sec. 2(b) does not require any change to previously issued regulations, presidential actions, contracts, grants or other historical documents. Under Sec. 1 it is the administration's policy that the executive branch will not acknowledge the usage of 'Artificial Intelligence' and 'AI' in any applicable setting. The APST's legislative proposal, due about 28 Nov 2026, is also to assess whether the new definition should modify, expand upon or supersede the statutory definition of AI, and to recommend further executive action. NIST's CAISI page now names the centre the 'Center for Advancing Innovation and Standards for Super Intelligence (CAISSI)' (US-15), and the White House fact sheet on the order refers to a 'National Super Intelligence Policy Framework'. The White House Accord on Super Intelligence (US-27) is dated the same day as the order.

Recheck of 17 Oct 2026: stored the order's page on whitehouse.gov, linked from the White House fact sheet, and the Federal Register print linked from that page (eo-14434.pdf, 2 pages, 91 FR 63129-63130, FR Doc. 2026-20321). They confirm the title, EO 14434, signing on 29 Sep 2026, publication on 2 Oct 2026 and the content of Secs. 1 to 4. Every stored copy of the Federal Register page (plain, browser-rendered and printed, 11 and 17 Oct 2026) is a bot-check page, so official_url now points to the whitehouse.gov page of the order, whose text and linked Federal Register print the archiver can store; the Federal Register document number stays in official_identifier. The White House fact sheet of 29 Sep 2026 (secondary_url) matches. The CAISSI name rests on NIST's page stored for US-15 and the date of the accord on its copy stored for US-27; neither source states that it follows from this order, so notes no longer call them consequences.
Second check: Independent check by Claude Code (claude-sonnet-5-5), 2026-10-18: 9 field(s) supported, fixes applied to scope_note.
