Summary
Government bill designating Slovakia's authorities under the AI Act, the Data Governance Act and the Data Act. The Ministry of Investments (MIRRI) becomes general market surveillance authority and single point of contact and runs the AI regulatory sandbox, with priority for SMEs; the Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing is the notifying authority. Sectoral authorities are the Ministry of Justice (AI used by courts), the Office of the Inspection Service (biometrics, critical infrastructure, migration), the data protection office and the National Security Authority. AI Act fines follow Article 99; a first breach remedied within a notice period of at most 15 working days goes unfined.

Status notes
Received by the National Council on 28 August 2026 as parliamentary print 1447 (Government number UV-23232/2026), submitted by the Government (Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization); the explanatory memorandum is signed on 26 August 2026. On 17 September 2026 the National Council (resolution no. 1631) decided to consider it in second reading and assigned it to the Constitutional Law Committee, the Committee for Finance and Budget and the Committee for Public Administration and Regional Development, the last as lead committee, with deadlines of 13 and 16 November 2026. It would take effect on 1 January 2027. It also lets the Public Defender of Rights examine how public authorities use AI systems, and excludes AI used only for military, defence or national-security purposes and AI developed only for scientific research. A separate Office of Digital Integrity, first planned, was dropped after comments from the Ministry of Finance and the Government's Legislative Council. The bill does not take up the AI Act's option to authorise real-time remote biometric identification for law enforcement (Article 5(5)), which it leaves to the Ministry of the Interior.
