Status notes

Adopted by the National Assembly on 23 October 2025, promulgated on 31 October 2025 and published in Uradni list RS 85/2025 on 6 November 2025; in force on the fifteenth day after publication (Article 45), i.e. 21 November 2025. Misdemeanour fines (Articles 25-35) normally run from EUR 25,000 to 250,000 for legal persons and EUR 100,000 to 450,000 for large companies. Where a breach is particularly serious because of the damage caused, the unlawful gain or intent, the ceiling rises to EUR 35 million or 7% of worldwide turnover for prohibited practices (Article 26(5)), EUR 15 million or 3% for operator obligations and EUR 7.5 million or 1% for incorrect or misleading information, whichever is higher, or whichever is lower for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. Public bodies that fail to publish AI system information face EUR 500-5,000 (Article 35). The publication duty (Article 21) does not apply to AI used in law enforcement, defence, national security, migration, asylum and border control. AKOS had to set up the first regulatory sandbox by 2 August 2026 (Article 40). Conformity assessment bodies are assessed by the national accreditation service (Article 5). The national AI strategy of March 2026 (NsUI 2030) treats the act as the legal basis of its 'ethics and regulation' measures.

Stored: the Official Gazette HTML text of the act (Uradni list RS 85/2025, item 3035), with the promulgation decree and Articles 1-45; the gazette PDF of issue 85/2025; and the Government's news release of 24 October 2025 on the adoption. The gazette text confirms the title, abbreviation, adoption, promulgation and publication dates, the entry-into-force clause and every provision summarised here. The news release names the Ministry of Digital Transformation as the responsible ministry. Not confirmed by any stored copy: a public consultation on the draft in March 2025 (taken from the title of a gov.si news item), the Commission's list of 7 September 2026 showing AKOS for Slovenia with the designation pending, and the treatment of the act in NsUI 2030, which rests on the SI-02 record.

Notifying authorities are the ministr — corrected the allocation of supervision (Article 10): AKOS supervises Annex I Section A, Annex III points 2, 4, 5(a) and 5(d) and Article 50, not 'most Annex I and III areas'; the Information Commissioner supervises Article 5 and Annex III points 1, 3 and 6 to 8, not only the prohibitions; 'ministry for trade' rendered literally as the ministry responsible for the market ('ministrstvo, pristojno za trg', Article 3(1)); the accreditation body moved to notes because the act names the function, not 'Slovenian Accreditation'; added the public-sector publication duty (Article 21)2026-10-14-refresh-translation-fixes · Claude Code (claude-opus-5-5)
