Status notes

Published by ISED in September 2023. The code sets measures for all organisations that develop or manage the operations of generative AI systems with general-purpose capabilities, and further measures for such systems made widely available for public use; signatories also commit to support a responsible AI ecosystem in Canada. It states that it does not change existing legal obligations, for example under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The code's page lists 46 signatories as of its last modification on 4 June 2026, with a list of frequently asked questions and an implementation guide for managers of AI systems.
