Status notes

The communiqué is dated 26 August 2026, Sydney, and was published on GOV.UK by the Home Office on 28 August 2026. Outside its section on AI and national security, it notes that state threats are amplified by advanced technology including AI, that AI gives terrorists and violent extremists new tools for radicalisation, propaganda, attack planning and fundraising, and that the fast-growing threat of online and cyber-enabled scams is largely driven by AI-enabled technology. It does not set out which model characteristics may require additional government scrutiny.
