Summary

An explanatory notice and template adopted by the Commission for the public summary of training content that providers of general-purpose AI models must publish under Article 53(1)(d) of the AI Act, where using the template is mandatory. It sets a common minimal baseline in three sections: general information on the model and its training content, a list of data sources such as public and private datasets, scraped online data, user data and synthetic data, and data processing aspects relevant to rights such as copyright. The summary helps parties with legitimate interests, including copyright holders, exercise their rights under Union law.

Status notes

Published on 24 July 2025. The notice and template are published in all 24 official EU languages, and the template is also offered in English as an editable document for providers to complete. Providers must also disclose, among other things, the top 10% of internet domains scraped (top 5% or 1,000 domains for SMEs), and update the summary every six months or sooner when further training requires a materially significant update. The obligation applies from 2 August 2025, and by 2 August 2027 for models placed on the market before that date; failure to publish can lead to enforcement by the AI Office from 2 August 2026, with fines of up to 3% of annual worldwide turnover or EUR 15 million, whichever is higher. The template complements the guidelines for providers of general-purpose AI models and the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice. The Commission's page for the notice and template shows a last update of 26 March 2026.

Re-read in the recheck of 17 Oct 2026: the Commission library page (official, stored 11 Oct 2026) confirms the title, publication on 24 July 2025, the template's aim, the 24 language versions and a last update of 26 March 2026. Stored in this run: the Commission's Q&A on the template (last update 26 March 2026; proposed as secondary_url), which states that using the template is mandatory under Article 53(1)(d) and describes its sections, the copyright purpose, updating and enforcement; and the Commission's press release of 24 July 2025, which says the Commission adopted the template and that it assists copyright holders. The notice and template themselves are offered only through ec.europa.eu/newsroom/dae/, which ec.europa.eu's robots.txt disallows, so they are not stored. Version 1's statements that the template is required under Article 53(1)(d) of the AI Act and supports the exercise of copyright and other rights are not shown in the library page; the Q&A and the press release state them.
