Status notes
Approved by the Council of Ministers on 22 Aug 2023, published in BOE no. 210 on 2 Sep 2023 and in force from 3 Sep 2023. It was processed urgently under a Council of Ministers agreement of 13 Jun 2023, so that the Agency could prepare for the obligations of the then proposed EU AI Act. AESIA is attached to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation through the State Secretariat for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, and was to start operating when its Governing Council was constituted, within three months of entry into force. Its powers are without prejudice to those of the Ministry of Health and the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices.
