Summary
Consensus statement of G20 ministers at the Innovation Ministerial in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, ending 2 September 2026. It presents emerging technologies as drivers of prosperity when 'deployed in a secure and reliable manner', supports sector-specific, risk-based approaches where appropriate and calls on members to preserve national sovereignty in technology governance. Six pillars cover pro-innovation policy, AI in public services, workforce skills, intellectual property policies for AI, 'AI for standards and standards for AI' and supply chains. The Carolina Principles favour secure real-world testing and existing sector-specific regulation, with new rules only for novel issues.

Stored: the statement's text (7 pages) as published by the UK government (assets.publishing.service.gov.uk), with the title, the Chapel Hill meeting, the preamble, the six pillars and the Carolina Principles but no date; the UK publication page (gov.uk), 'agreed by the G20 ministers who met in North Carolina, United States on 2 September 2026', published 4 September 2026; and the White House release of 2 September 2026, which gives the two-day ministerial, its hosts, the consensus, the other deliverables and the delegations present. The Commerce Department's press release refuses the archiver (HTTP 403; the browser retry times out) and its links to the documents are tracking redirects, so the US presidency's own copy of the text was not stored. The texts of the AI Prosperity Objectives and the AI Prosperity Compact were not stored.
